So New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 has been and gone and I wanted to roundup my favourite pieces from the different designers. Sadly I never attended in person, but I followed it closely online, with some gorgeous collections fast emerging from the catwalk. It was interesting that some designers were showcasing a 'See Now, Buy Now' collection, available immediately in store and online, which hasn't really been done in previous years.
As well as the fashion, I love seeing the models equally as much. From their hair and make up to the littlest details like nail colour and accessories, I'm always excited to see the trends they're carrying off. With them being so slim and tall, the clothes hang off their body's so elegantly. To me, I think the models make the clothes as they wear them so well.
In terms of designers, I was particularly interested in seeing Victoria Beckham's new collection (love her), Alexander Wang x Adidas Originals (purely out of curiosity) and DVF (forever elegant and classic), plus new emerging brands for something fresh and different.
As mentioned, I'm a big fan of Victoria Beckham. I think she's made an excellent transformation from ex Spice Girl to a world renowned fashion designer. She dresses herself with a high level of elegance and style, which is massively reflected in her collections. Unfortunately this time round I wasn't too keen on her SS 2017 collection. I loved the colours and use of velvet, however, for me I wasn't feeling the overly baggy fit with low rise waists. The handbags are (and will always be) gorgeous! I still love you VB!
ALEXANDER WANG X ADIDAS ORIGINALS
Now I love Adidas Originals, so I was pretty shocked to see this unlikely collaboration between Alexander Wang and Adidas Originals. I've got to say that I quite like some pieces. Some subtle 'Wang' changes have been made to the iconic 3 stripes and the trefoil logo. As for the actual pieces, they're dark and to me seem very typical leisure wear, which is where I expected a little more in the sense of pattern and colour. Not my favourite collection, but still good nevertheless.
I really like DVF and was pretty impressed by the new collection, which was a debut for Jonathan Saunders. A really lovely collection combining bright colours, prints, fabrics and styles all into one! A very typically beautiful DVF collection, which I love.
This is probably one of the most stunning collections I've seen from NYFW. The sheer intricate detail of the pieces is stunning. Simply summed up as a very pretty collection. The combination of pastel, silky flowing fabrics and embroidery is beautiful. Not to forget, she's the first designer to feature all her models in hijabs, which is a pretty big deal by fashion standards!
