I've previously reviewed Huda Beauty lashes on the blog, which were and still are my go to lashes. So this time round I have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipsticks, which I will be happily reviewing in this beauty post. The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipsticks are described as:

"Long-lasting & comfortable matte liquid lipstick. Intense pigmentation. Helps to maintain the lips hydration. No transfer."

The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipstick range appears to be a hot rival of the Kylie Jenner lip kits. I'm already a massive fan of Huda Beauty, so I wanted to stay loyal to the brand and try out the matte liquid lipsticks. There are sixteen shades in the collection, of which I'm trying out three:

  • Material Girl
  • Trophy Wife
  • Famous

The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipsticks were purchased from Sephora in Dubai, costing roughly around £20 per lip colour. However, fortunately they are available in the UK. The lipsticks are such good quality, apply very easily, with a little product going a long way. The product takes around 30 seconds to dry and turn completely matte. It also surprisingly stays on for a long time, without a top up. I would say prior to applying the lipstick, it's a good idea to fully exfoliate lips so they're in the best condition possible, as matte lipsticks tend to highlight everything! It's also worth pointing out that the lipsticks smell gorgeous and sweet.

Trophy Wife is the lightest of the three shades. It is a medium(ish) pink. The colour is very pigmented. However, as it's quite light, it tends to show the lines of my lips (which I don't like because I don't have lip filler!). I would definitely recommend the matching lip liner, just to give a good overall coverage. It stays on for hours, without needing a touch up. Although the colour is stunning, I don't think it's right for me as it highlights natural lines on the lips, so I would need to wear a lip balm over it.

This colour is in the middle of the two. Another gorgeous colour, which is quite similar to Rebel by Mac, with Material Girl being a touch darker. It goes on very easily and dries to its true colour. Personally, I think it's great for a day or night look, depending on the overall make up look. I feel it matches every season - probably my favourite colour of the three. Again, like the entire Huda Beauty matte lip range, the colour literally lasts forever, staying put all day! I wore this colour from 8am - 6pm, without needing a top up - pretty impressive!

This is the darkest of the three shades. It's a very bold, deep purple with a slight hue of dark red. I was scared this colour may transfer on to teeth, but it didn't (another brownie point for Huda Beauty). Again, looks wonderful on and would suit most skin tones. Personally, I prefer a darker colour when wearing a matte lip. This is purely because I feel it goes on better and looks a lot better. As mentioned above, my pet hate with matte lipsticks is when it highlights the lines in your lips because the product is so matte. I think a darker colour helps conceal this. The colour again literally stays put all day. I had it on for around eleven hours, without reapplying, and it still looked fresh. The colour is intensely pigmented as it claims to be. There are also matching lip liner pencils in the same shades to apply first for extra coverage, however I would say for this shade, it's not really needed.

Overall, the quality of the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipsticks are excellent and I can't fault them. They're true to their word, being very long-lasting and super pigmented. They are also very comfortable in the sense I feel I have nothing on my lips. However, I think it's worth noting that the various shades may look different on different skin tones. For example, for more tan to darker skin, I would say the dark purples/dark pinks/red shades would suit better and I think lighter shades, such as nudes and light pinks would suit lighter skin tones better. Also, the darker colours require a few rounds of makeup remover to fully remove the colour, which I guess highlights the true colour pigmentation.

To end on a high, I would score the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks 9/10. Yes - I know this is very optimistic scoring, but the product does what it claims to do. I would like to see more colours released as I would definitely like more!
